That’s why when Saie, an internet- and editor-loved clean beauty brand, offered me a sample of its new Hydrabeam concealer, I was more than happy to test it out. Most of Saie’s products are known to act as both makeup and skincare; I’ve had it on my radar after hearing praise for its Sunvisor sunscreen that helps with uneven skin tones and shopper-loved Slip Tint tinted SPF moisturizer. While I was expecting Hydrabeam to live up to the hype, I was shocked when it really blew past my expectations to become one of my favorite new beauty products of the season. To buy: $26; saiehello.com. I’ve never really been one to use concealer. At most, I would dab a few dots on the area under my eyes if I had a poor night’s sleep, but concealers have tended to be too drying, too cakey, too hard to blend, or just generally end up looking like someone slathered plaster on my skin. Hydrabeam is the exact opposite—it blends into the skin almost instantly, and it’s so lightweight that when I first tried it, I completely forgot I was wearing it. Made with skincare ingredients that are known to be key to hydrating your skin including squalane, glycerin, cucumber extract, and jojoba seed oil, the concealer also really keeps your skin looking glowy with minimal effort. It’s perfect for achieving the “natural, no-makeup” makeup look, as if you just woke up with glistening skin after a facial. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t give enough coverage, though—quite the opposite. Since it’s so buildable, I can easily use it on days when I just need to hide a few dark circles under my eyes, or more for days when I have acne scars on my cheeks. I’m not the only one who’s already obsessed with Hydrabeam. Reviewers who also struggle with cakey concealers said it makes their makeup look natural, and that its ultra-light texture makes it a “new summer staple.” One even said it has “changed the game,” adding that it “really brightens up the under-eyes.” Hydrabeam currently only comes in nine shades, so the one area of improvement I would love to see is an expansion of color options for more skin tones. In terms of formula, however, I can’t think of any other concealer I’d reach for first.
