Innovative Solutions, Inc., the brand that produces both products, recalled them on November 10. Approximately 97,887 pounds of raw ground chicken patty products have been impacted. The affected products are Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers, and unbranded Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders, which are sold at retailers across the country. Both products were produced on various dates between August 16 and September 29, 2021. The following products are subject to recall:
1-lb. cardboard packages containing four pieces of “TRADER JOE’S CHILE LIME CHICKEN BURGERS” with lot codes 2281, 2291, 2311, 2351, 2361, 2371, 2441, 2511, 2521, 2531, 2561, 2591, 2601, 2671, or 2721 represented on the label.9-lb. bulk-pack boxes containing 72 pieces of “SPINACH FETA CHICKEN SLIDERS” with lot codes 2361 or 2631 represented on the label.
Additionally, the recalled items have the establishment number “EST. P-8276” printed near the USDA mark of inspection. The frozen chicken dishes were shipped to retail locations nationwide, including many of Trader Joe’s 500 outposts. According to the USDA, the problem was discovered after Innovative Solutions received numerous complaints from customers who had found bone fragments in their food. While there have been no reports of illness or hospitalization, anyone concerned about an injury should contact a health care provider. Since these products were produced several months ago, FSIS is concerned that they may still be in consumers’ freezers. People who have purchased these products are being urged not to eat them. Instead, they should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. This recall comes about three weeks after the CDC issued a massive onion recall due to salmonella. According to the agency, as of October 29, 157 people have been hospitalized and 808 have gotten sick after eating the affected onions.
